
Growing up in the south grits were always a pantry staple. It’s the polenta of the south. There’s a debate down here that ignites as much passion as the, does pineapple belong on pizza debate. The debate? Does sugar belong in grits? For me, yes. I don’t always eat sweet grits, but when I do it’s with salted butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, and cracked pepper. Yes, pepper.
